成城大学グローカル研究センターでは、来たる3月19日（土）、以下の要領で公開国際シンポジウム"Beyond Globalization Studies：Rethinking the Asymmetry of Socio-Cultural Dynamics”（グローバリゼーション研究を越えて—社会的・文化的な非対称性を再考する—）を開催する予定にしておりました。しかしながら、3月11日（金）に発生しました東北関東大震災並びに巨大津波の影響で、今日（3月14日）早朝より、関東一円の公共交通機関の多くが運休などしており、また、電気の供給にも支障が出るという事態に至りました。さらに、被災地の原子力発電所の一部が相当の被害を受けているとの政府発表もあります。
つきましては、開催直前で誠に恐縮ではございますが、公開国際シンポジウムを「延期」させていただくこととしましたのでお知らせ致します。
なお、開催期日等につきましては、後ほど改めてお知らせ致します。　
最後になりましたが、未曾有の巨大地震並びに津波で被災された方々にお見舞いを申し上げるとともに、亡くなられた方々には心よりお悔やみを申し上げます。

Postponement of the Seijo Glocal Studies Center International Symposium

Because of the current dangerous situation stemming from the earthquake and tsunami that hit the northern Pacific coast of Japan on March 11, the Seijo Glocal Studies Center is postponing its international symposium “Beyond
Globalization Studies：Rethinking the Asymmetry of Socio-Cultural Dynamics,” which was scheduled to be held on March 19, 2011. We will send out notices of the rescheduled symposium when the details have been settled.

Our thoughts are with those whose lives, homes, and livelihoods have been so tragically devastated by this unprecedented natural disaster. We send our condolences to those who have lost loved ones and pray that those who lost their lives may rest in peace.
